Creative in Phoenix
Late Night Drive from Montana to Arizona
We hustled to cover some miles leaving Montana. There’s something awesome, surreal and American horror movie-esque driving late night on a empty road and suddenly seeing that pop of florescent color from a single, lonely diner ahead…
I had a few hours before my flight to home to NYC for the holidays, so I met Dawid, a Couchsurfer I had contacted before arriving in Phoenix. We had plans to make our way over to a Christmas Eve party, but talking to Dawid and his roommate, Mark over beers and homemade truffle soup was entertaining enough to keep us in.
If I could describe Dawid it would be this: part creative, part new-age hippie, and part soulful visionary with a penchant for leather jackets, spiritual healing, and entrepreneurial ideas. I asked Dawid to give me a rundown of the city in the limited time that I had. In his words: “Phoenix is the easiest place to become a rockstar in a week, if you have an idea and the ambition to back it up. Frustration is for the people who don’t dream.”
Dream big, people.
